A delegation from the Makati Aikido Club traveled to Tokyo and Kyoto to renew relationships and train with teachers who have previously taught in the Philippines over the years. The delegation trained at Hombu Dojo on November 11-12 and at Aikido Kyoto on November 14-15. At Hombu Dojo in Shinjuku, the group attended classes by Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba, Takeshi Kanazawa Shihan, Makoto Ito Shihan, Yoshinobu Irie Shihan, and Tomohiro Mori Shihan. Limited time in Tokyo foreclosed training with other teachers who have also been friends to Filipino aikidoists. In Kyoto, the delegation attended classes by Yoko Okamoto Shihan, Chris Mulligan Shihan, and by a senior student of Okamoto Shihan. The delegation was composed of Mel Camus, Kaori Leonardo, Chrys Ibarra, Dam Amaranto, and Royce Reyes. |
